4 Steps to Enjoying Every Moment

All too often people take life, and all of the great things that it offers, for granted. People realize how much something means to them only after it is taken away. There is a reason for this; it is difficult to appreciate things in life because it is difficult to picture yourself without them.

An example will help to explain this point more clearly. Imagine sitting at a table nearly 100 feet long. On this table are hundreds of different foods. Main courses, deserts, drinks, and more cover every inch of the table. You are all alone, and all that the table offers is for you.

Now try and not take this food for granted. Try to appreciate it like it will be gone tomorrow. It isn't easy. It is hard to not take this food for granted when there is so much in front of you.

This example can be transferred to many things in life. One may see that same point in life itself. People say live life to the fullest, and to appreciate every day you have. This is difficult for the majority of people because, just the like the food, there are so many days left. When you know you'll be around for 40 more years, it is hard to think about today being your last day.

Don't lose hope, there is an answer. It's called the Step Back. This quick system will help you to appreciate your life, and all that is offers.
Moments filled with happiness and excitement will no longer be unappreciated and taken for granted.

1. REALIZE YOU'RE IN THE MOMENT
The first stepis to realize that you are in the middle of something good.
It could be a beautiful day on your family vacation, or a perfect afternoon with your children. You are the judge of what moments you'd like to appreciate.

2. TAKE A STEP BACK
This is the main part of the system. Once you realize you are experiencing a moment you'd like to have last forever, stop yourself for a moment and take a Step Back.

Take yourself away from the situation. Take a short walk, a quick break, or simply close your eyes.

Once you are removed from the situation, think about it as if it happened in the past.

Picture how happy you were, the details of the scene, and the others around you. Feel the emotions you felt, see and hear the faces and sounds. Remember how much you enjoyed the time, and how much you'd like to enjoy it again.

3. MAKE YOUR REENTRY
Once you feel the happiness of the moment, think about this; it's no longer in the past, it's right now! You just thought about how great you felt in that past moment, and now you can live it in the present.

You just appreciated the current moment by looking back on the situation.
Once you are in the middle of the moment again, remember...

4. ENJOY YOURSELF
This will be a moment that, like all others, will eventually pass. With this in mind, really let it sink in. Take a look around, and realize you are in the middle of something great.

Taking a Step Back every now and then will help you appreciate life. No longer will you be one who takes life for granted. You will make happy moments happier, and you will also help to make them last forever.

Happiness Follows

Once there was an old alley cat walking down the street looking for his supper. As he walked along he came upon a beautiful young cat who was running around in circles chasing her tail. Around and
around she went trying as hard as she could to catch her tail.

The old alley cat stopped and asked her, "What are you doing?"

The young cat slowed down and replied that she had been taught that joy, happiness, success and luck were all in the tip of her tail.

"All that I have to do is catch the end of my tail, and I will have the happy life, she said.

The old alley cat replied, "I've been around for a long time, and I know that joy, happiness, success and luck are in the tip of my tail; but, you know if I don't chase it and work my very hardest and don't worry about it, the happy life follows me wherever I go. My tail follows me everywhere, so I don't need to chase it."

Happiness isn't a place, a time, or a possession. You have to make it happen. The ways to make it happen is to stop worrying about everything and just go about your business, and do your very best. Then, if you really work hard, your happiness will follow you just like the alley cat's tail.

Sometimes, it might just be too late..

There was a boy who I liked. He liked me too, well that's what I was told...but one day I was walking
to class and I heard someone call my name when I turned around he was there...

"Wait up!" he called.

I waited for a few seconds and let him catch up then once he did I started walking again.

"You need something?" I asked
"Yea... a favor." he said.
"Sure what is it?" I asked.
"Go out with me." he said with a gleam in his eyes.
"ok... sure."I said secretly jumping with joy in my mind.

He walked me to class and kissed me good bye...then the late bell rang and he sprung down
the hall to get to class. He walked me to class every day and Kissed me every day and he was
with me every chance he got. Then days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and
months turned into a year and he still ran to catch up with me.

It was the day of our one year anniversary and he walked me to class gave me a box and a kiss...then he whispered into my ear..."I love you." then he left. I opened the gift and it was a ring...a gorgeous ring. That night we were out at dinner to celebrate and all he surprised me...AGAIN...

"You know how I said that I loved you?"he asked
"yea?" I got really nervous....
"I really do you know I love you."

I didn't say anything and I knew he wanted me to say it but I didn't want to seem stupid so I stuffed
food in my mouth and he didn't say anything but I could tell he was disapointed. We got done eating
and he was driving me home at the red light he turned and looked at me...

"Why won't you say you love me? don't you love me like I love you?" he asked,

I didn't know what to say I loved him more than I could imagine but I just didn't know how or when to
say it...

"I...I...lov...."

BOOM!!!!!!!!!! a semi had hit the driver side and rammed us right into a lake.The next day I was in
the hospital and all I could think about was if he was ok...so I got out of my bed and searched for
him...but when I found him he was barely alive...seeing the one I loved near death made me
drop to my knees and cry...

"I love you...I've loved you since the first day we met. I love you soooo much don't you leave me
please don't leave me I need you here...I LOVE YOU!!!!"

With his very last breath he said...

"I love you too." then he was gone.

A week later I was able to go home but I wasn't ready to face school yet and my mom understood.
I went up to my room and I found a note inside the ring box....


"I hope you like this ring. It was my grandma's she told me to give it to the one I love and well I love
you. No matter what happens to me I will always love you. If I died today I want to die knowing you
love me...I won't leave this earth without knowing you love me. You're always in my heart forever
until the day I die.

p.s. I love you now...I will love you forever."
