Best Moments in Life

To fall in love.

To laugh until it hurts your stomach.

To find mails by the thousands when you return of the vacations.

To manage for a vacation at some pretty place.

To listen to your favorite song in the radio.

To go to bed and to listen while it rains out.

To leave the shower and find that the towel is warm.

To clear your last exam.

To receive a call from someone, you don't see a lot, but you want to.

A good conversation.

To find money in a pant that you didn't use last year.

To laugh at oneself.

Calls at the midnight that last for hours.

To laugh without reasons.

To hear accidentally that somebody says something good of you.

To wake up and realize it is still possible to sleep a couple of hours.

To hear a song that makes you remember a special reason.

To be part of a team.

The first kiss.

To make new friends.

To feel butterflies in the stomach every time that you see that person.

To pass a while with your best friends.

To see people that you like, feeling happy.

To use a sweater of the person that you like.

See an old friend again and to feel that the things didn't change.

To look at an evening.

To have somebody that tells you that he/she loves you

WRONG NUMBER

It was the day of my son's XII results and I was so tensed. I sat beside him while he logged on the website with his registration no.

" Ma" , he screamed in excitement," I scored 1191, with centum in 4 subjects. I cant believe it. "
I kinda became numb in my excitement. My eyes became wet.

I kissed him on his forehead and smiled . My husband had gone out of station on some business trip and my son immediately called him on his cell and told him of the news.

Soon we realized that he stood first in the state. Oh, my joy knew no bounds when Reporters and media persons soon swamped my house for interviews and photos. I was so honored to join him in the snaps.

I wanted to call my "wrong-number-friend to tell him the news......I was so excited.
He was someone whom I have known for more than 20 years.

I still do not remember when we became friends, but certainly cannot forget the first day he called me when I blasted him for giving me so many wrong calls.....after that he had called up a week later asking apology, for he had now got the right no of his friend whom he wanted to talk to. We spoke for an hour that day...even without knowing each other's names.
Though he kept pestering me to reveal my name I never did and so he kept a name...Sweety. I used to get so shy whenever he called me 'Sweety'. I was doing first year of BSc. Maths then, and he was a Computer Engineering student.

From then he used to call me very often . We almost discussed everything ..
By the final year of my college, we probably we were in love, but I had been cautious. I was in a dilemma whether to tell him. But what if he was of a different religion? Do I have the courage to talk to my parents about it?

........all these questions ran through my mind.

I decided I'll not talk to him thereafter. When he called next time I lied to him I that I was going to Delhi for my post graduation. He gave me his office number and asked me to ring him up once I reach there.

I never called .......

A couple of months later my marriage got fixed with a guy of my parent's choice. I was not happy but I did not complain; rather accepted it as an obedient daughter. At times I felt I missed my wrong- number- friend.......

My hubby was a moody person; I have hardly spent any good time with him- but he was genuine indeed and never bothered my personal space. After 2 years we had a boy...Yet,I was not very happy with my married life...

One day I happened to browse through my diary and found I still had my old friend's office phone no that he had given me. I dialed it and spoke with him. He said he was married and got a kid too. I was happy for him though in the bottom of the heart I felt bad that I could not marry him.

From then I used to occasionally call him on that number. I never gave him mine as I felt that would put me in trouble...

And till today I almost shared everything with him including my relationship with my hubby.....today I was so happy and I wanted to call him.

Just then I got a call.
"Your husband met with an accident and died on the spot"

I banged the phone down. I broke. I did not call my friend.....I somehow started feeling guilty. I have never tried to talk to him properly when he was alive or moved close with him....
I felt I had been a bad wife........

A couple of years passed and one day my son brought home a Bengali girl and said they wanted to get married. I got them married as I did not want my son to go through what I did.
I decided to give my son his father's room and started clearing it. There was a phone book. I gently opened it to find, " Wrong No: Sweety -XXXX XXXX"

God always puts the right numbers together. Its we who interpret it wrong!!!

Falling is Not Failing

by Andrea O'Neil

No one wants to fall. When we feel off balance in reality or in life metaphorically we reach out to grab onto things. We make instantaneous decisions to avoid landing on our rears and risking
pain.

Imagine yourself in your office or den, climbing a small step-ladder to reach a book on the top shelf. Even on the top step, the book is just out of reach. You lean a little too far and start to fall.
Frantically, as you lose your footing, you grab onto the bookshelf to stop yourself. In this split second, reactionary decision, you do not have time to make sure the shelf is stable itself. You just reach for it. Then as you fall to the floor, the shelf comes toppling down on top of you.
Now, in addition to added bruises and scrapes, you have an entire bookshelf to reorganize.

Well, which was worse: the original fall, or the subsequent
complication of the bookshelf crashing onto you?

We all fall sometimes, and it often hurts when we do, but instead of starting a chain of reactionary events, we can shape our future in a positive way by allowing ourselves to land. Yes, land. From the ground we can step back and take a look at the situation. We can give it some thought and planning, and learn from the experience. When we go after that book again, or whatever we reach for, perhaps we can create a more stable foundation before we reach out so far next time.

By learning from our mistakes and making proactive choices in our future, we can greatly affect the success rate we create in our lives. Falling isn't failing. It is our chance to build a better
ladder to our goals.

No Charge For Love

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls.
He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.

"Mister," he said, "I want to buy "one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket,he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer.

"I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle.

"Here, Dolly!"he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.

The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyesdanced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence,
the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp itslid. Then in a some what awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt.
The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.
Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands."

With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup.
Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

"How much?" asked the little boy.

"No charge," answered the farmer,

"There's no charge for love."

"As it is there is a shortage of people in this world who can understand the meaning of love", concluded the farmer

One Day I Decided to Quit

One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my
Spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. "God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?" His answer surprised me...

"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo." He said.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit." He said.

"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle." He said to me.

"Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots?"

"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."

"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful."

"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and bring back this story. I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.

He will never give up on you!

Thought And Character

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he," not only embraces the whole of a man's being, but is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of his life. A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.

As the plant springs from, and could not be without, the seed, so every act of man springs from the hidden seeds of thought, and could not have appeared without them. This applies equally to those acts called "spontaneous" and "unpremeditated" as to those which are deliberately executed.

Act is the blossom of thought, and joy and suffering are its fruit; thus does a man garner in the sweet and bitter fruitage of his own husbandry.

Thought in the mind hath made us.
What we are by thought was wrought and built.
If a man's mind hath evil thought,
pain comes on him as comes the wheel the ox behind.
If one endure in purity of thought,
Joy follows him as his own shadow - sure.

Man is a growth by law, and not a creation by artifice, and cause and effect are as absolute and undeviating in the hidden realm of thought as in the world of visible and material things. A noble and God-like character is not a thing of favor or chance, but is the natural result of continued
effort in right thinking, the effect of long-cherished association with God-like thoughts. An ignoble and bestial character, by the same process, is the result of the continued harboring of groveling thoughts.

Man is made or unmade by himself. In the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself. He also fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace.
By the right choice and true application of thought, man ascends to the divine perfection. By the abuse and wrong application of thought he descends below the level of the beast. Between these two extremes are all the grades of character, and man is their maker and master.

Of all the beautiful truths pertaining to the soul which have been restored and brought to light in this age, none is more gladdening or fruitful of divine promise and confidence than this-- that man is the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition,
environment, and destiny.

As a being of power, intelligence, and love, and the lord of his own thoughts, man holds the key to every situation, and contains within himself that transforming and regenerative agency by which he may make himself what he wills.

Man is always the master, even in his weakest and most abandoned state.
But in his weakness and degradation he is foolish master who misgoverns his "household." When he begins to reflect upon his condition and search diligently for the law upon which his being is established, he then becomes the wise master, directing his energies with intelligence and fashioning his thoughts to fruitful issues. Such is the conscious master, and man can only
thus become by discovering within himself the laws of thought. This discovery is totally a matter of application, self-analysis and experience.

Only by much searching and mining are gold and diamonds obtained, and man can find every truth connected with his being, if he will dig deep into the mine of his soul. That he is the maker of his character, the molder of his life, and the builder of his destiny, he may unerringly prove, if he will watch, control, and alter his thoughts, tracing their effects upon himself, upon others and upon his life and circumstances, linking cause and effect by patient practice and investigation.

And utilizing his every experience, even the most trivial, everyday occurrence, as a means of obtaining that knowledge of himself which is understanding, wisdom, power. In this direction, as in no other, is the law absolute that "He that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” For only by patience, practice, and ceaseless importunity can a man enter the door of the temple of knowledge.

Flowers on the Bus

We were a very motley crowd of people who took the bus every day that summer 33 years ago. During the early morning ride from the suburb, we sat drowsily with our collars up to our ears, a cheerless and taciturn bunch.

One of the passengers was a small grey man who took the bus to the centre for senior citizens every morning. He walked with a stoop and a sad look on his face when he, with some difficulty, boarded the bus and sat down alone behind the driver. No one ever paid very much attention to him.

Then one July morning he said good morning to the driver and smiled short-sightedly down through the bus before he sat down. The driver nodded guardedly. The rest of us were silent.

The next day, the old man boarded the bus energetically, smiled and said in a loud voice: "And a very good morning to you all!" Some of us looked up, amazed, and murmured "Good morning," in reply.

The following weeks we were more alert. Our friend was now dressed in a nice old suit and a wide out-of-date tie. The thin hair had been carefully combed. He said good morning to us every day and we gradually began to nod and talk to each other.

One morning he had a bunch of wild flowers in his hand. They were already dangling a little because of the heat. The driver turned around smilingly and asked: "Have you got yourself a girlfriend, Charlie?" We never got to know if his name really was "Charlie", but he nodded shyly and said yes.

The other passengers whistled and clapped at him. Charlie bowed and waved the flowers before he sat down on his seat.

Every morning after that Charlie always brought a flower. Some of the regular passengers began bringing him flowers for his bouquet, gently nudged him and said shyly: "Here." Everyone smiled. The men started to jest about it, talk to each other, and share the newspaper.

The summer went by, and autumn was closing in, when one morning Charlie wasn't waiting at his usual stop. When he wasn't there the next day and the day after that, we started wondering if he was sick or -- hopefully -- on holiday somewhere.

When we came nearer to the centre for senior citizens, one of the passengers asked the driver to wait. We all held our breaths when she went to the door.

Yes, the staff said, they knew who we were talking about. The elderly gentleman was fine, but he hadn't been coming to the centre that week. One of his very close friends had died at the weekend. They expected him back on Monday. How silent we were the rest of the way to work.

The next Monday Charlie was waiting at the stop, stooping a bit more, a little bit more grey, and without a tie. He seemed to have shrinked again.
Inside the bus was a silence akin to that in a church. Even though no one had talked about it, all those of us, who he had made such an impression on that summer, sat with our eyes filled with tears and a bunch of wild flowers in our hands.

Holistic Living

Walking through a forest, a man chanced to meet 4 beautiful women.
Greeting them, he introduced himself.

The tall and slim women said : “My name is Buddhi (intellect), I live in man’s head”.

The women with Kohlined eyes said :“I am Lajja, I live in the eyes of man as modesty and present myself as decorum in behavior”.

The third lady had a well-toned body. “I am Himmat”, she said. “I live in man’s heart. I give him the courage to live”. The traveler bowed low.

The fourth lady had rosy cheeks and radiated freshness. “My name is Tandurusti (health). I live in man’s stomach”, she said.

As the traveler went ahead, his thoughts went back to 4 women he had met. At the end of the forest, he met 4 young men

"I am Krodh (anger)”, said the first man who was handsome but for his brows, which were always knitted. “Where do you live”, the traveler asked. “I live in man’s head”, said Krodh. The traveler said this was not possible.
He had just met Buddhi and she lived in the head. Krodh said “Till I enter Buddhi remains. Once I enter, she runs away”. Krodh had strong muscles and a forceful personality.

The second man was Laalach (greed). “I live in people’s eyes”, he said.
Once again the traveler interjected to say “Only Lajja lives there”. “Just place a bag of gold coins and see how Lajja runs away from people’s eyes. Or offer a position of power. Desire does not believe in modesty, shame or decorum.
It is an expression of greed”.

Who would the third man be ? “I am Bhay (fear)”, the sickly-looking man was saying. “I live in people’s hearts”. “Is it not the residence of Himmat ?”
the traveler asked. “When people do not obey their conscience, they are always afraid. They do wrong and so are full of fear of being caught.
That is why Himmat wanders homeless while I reside comfortably in people’s hearts. Sometimes when I dominate, people say they have a heart attack and go to the doctor. They give me even more space when and if they come back”.

“My name is Rog (disease)”,said the fourth man. He looked healthy. “I live in people’s stomachs. They are forever downing intoxicants that goes into their stomach, feeding me. I know you will wonder where Tandurusti went. She does not stand a chance. Everybody wants her but it is me they feed when they drink, smoke and partake other such substances”.

A healthy and happy life seems to be within reach. But so are problems.
If we invite problems, is it fair to blame it all on fate ? Can we make small resolves that will
make some space for Buddhi, Lajja, Himmat and Tandurusti within us ? Small resolves like : “I will control my anger today. I will limit my possessions.
I will try to remove fear. I will not give in to temptations that lead me to ill health”. Small vows or anuvrats are firm stepping stones to a happier and healthier life.

All it takes to be able to live a holistic life to resist temptation, taking one step at a time. Health, happiness and peace will be within reach.

Why Women Lie!

One day, a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river and her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked," Why are you crying?" The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and she needed the thimble to make her living. The Lord went down into the water and reappeared with a golden thimble. " Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.
The seamstress replied, "No." The Lord again went down and came up with a silver thimble. "Is this your thimble?"
Again the seamstress replied, "No." The Lord went down again and came up with a wooden thimble. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked. "The seamstress replied, "Yes."

The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all the three thimble to keep. And the seamstress went home happy. Some time later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank and her husband fell into the river. When she cried out the Lord again appeared and asked her,
"Why are you crying?" "Oh, Lord, my husband has fallen into the water!"

The Lord went down into the water and came up with Mel Gibson. "Is this your husband?" the Lord asked." Yes," cried the seamstress. The Lord was furious, "You lied! That is an untruth!"

The seamstress replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to Mel Gibson, you would have come up with Tom Cruise. Then if I said 'no' to him you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes' you would have given me all three. Lord, I am a poor woman and not able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S WHY I said yes to Mel Gibson."

Moral of this story is:
Whenever a woman lies, it is for a good and honorable reason for the benefit of others. (ya rite...)

EASY BUT DIFFICULT

Easy is to get a place in someone's address book
Difficult is to get a place in someone's heart.

Easy is to judge the mistakes of others
Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes.

Easy is to talk without thinking
Difficult is to refrain the tongue.

Easy is to hurt someone who loves us
Difficult is to heal the wound.

Easy is to forgive others
Difficult is to ask for forgiveness.

Easy is to set rules
Difficult is to follow them.

Easy is to dream every night
Difficult is to fight for a dream.

Easy is to show victory
Difficult is to assume defeat with dignity.

Easy is to admire a full moon
Difficult is to see the other side

No las esperanzas del habour más.
usted se hace tan ocupados.

¿qué usted está intentando hacer?
Usted dijo que usted nunca me dejará.

theres no other time

Whatever I may want to do.
It must be done today.
There is no other time.
Yesterdays are but todays,
used and gone beyond my grasp.
Not one can ever be brought back;
Tomorrows are todays awaiting birth.
Each comes unbidden in the night.
To arrive full-fledged for me to use,
and do whatever I may want to do.
